History of my parents.

Born in Serradifalco on February 2, 1930

of Augello Antonino and Pace Carmela.

One finds the name of Augello in the years 1675 in Sutera then in Montedoro.

They work in the sulphur mines of wire fathers. (Piètro started to work

at 10 years with his father).

Then the factories close the ones after the others, and here is the misery, the hunger and the despair which settle gradually. What to make to survive?

On June 23, 1946 was signed in Rome a draft-agreement, which was concluded between Italy and Belgium. This agreement envisaged 50.000 Italian workers sending, against 3 millions annual tons of coal.

And here are for thousands of Italians the departure begins towards Belgium.

Arrival of Piètro 12/01/1949 for the street of Paturages,182 in Wasmes.

Piètro and one of his friends (my godfather) Vincenzo Migliore.

Wounded in the mine, Piètro turns over a few months to Serradifalco, he meets Vincenza Ministeri there and there, the thunderbolt. They marry on July 25, 1953.

He returns in Belgium after a few months only time to prepare the arrival of Vincenza.

Arrival of the family in 1954, his wife Vincenza Ministeri, his Antonino son and

his Carmela daughter, of the twins born in Serradifalco on May 8, 1954.

Then follow Loreto on October 9, 1956, Calogèro on November 22, 1957

Gaëtano on February 26, 1959, Salvatore and Gioacchino on October 23, 1963.

Unfortunately, Gioacchino dies on November 16, 1964.

After more than twenty years spent in the content, Piètro took its pension of mine, obliged a little. The mines close the ones after the others. The disease also was there.

In the years 1980, they made the decision to leave to settle in Sicily in their native village, purchase of a house downtown and another in the countryside.

They will spend a few marvelous years there.

Mom dies of a cancer on September 23, 1989. Dad will follow disease of the minor on May 14, 1995.

On January 16, 2003, Loreto dies in its turn, he joined them.

Augello Gaëtano, born in Mons on February 26, 1959. Welder.

 Child: Ludivine.

Augello Salvatore, born in Frameries on October 23, 1963. Site foreman.
